RHS Update2 10-11

Greetings Romulus Families!

We are well into the school year and are getting much better at virtual learning! Progress reports will be available for viewing on Parent Connect at the end of day Tuesday. These grades are a quick snapshot of how your high schooler is doing so far. If assignments have been missed for any reason, NOW is the time to get with teachers to request makeup opportunities or alternate assignments. Please find below additional information, including SAT Testing, Attendance, and Athletics for the week.

Trying to remember what time your student has class? Please visit the website for the daily schedule: https://www.romulusk12.org/news/romulus-high-school/rhs-virtual-schedule

SAT TESTING

  • Schools in the State of Michigan are required to administer the SAT and PSAT Standardized exams that were missed in the Spring. This information provides families with information on how their students are learning and performing as compared to their counterparts in other schools, counties, and states. These assessments will be held IN PERSON, at the high school, on the dates below. Transportation and Food Service will be provided for all dates. The link to the parent letter and bus schedule is HERE.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mzdkmjLJkPlJAiv_qgp3EPnEROmIJ0rABtv-p9invCs/edit?usp=sharing

  • October 14th (THIS Wednesday) - SAT for current 12th Grade Students

  • Wednesday October 21st - 9th graders will be taking the PSAT

  • October 21st (Wednesday) - 9th graders will be taking the PSAT

  • October 29th (Thursday) - 10th and 11th graders will be taking the PSAT

ATTENDANCE:

Our ultimate goal is your student’s success. In this virtual environment, it is even more important that students be on time for class, participating in discussions, and asking & answering questions. Please see the rules of thumb for attendance in order to maximize the learning experience.

  • Students MUST attend Google Meets AND participate in class. This means answering questions verbally and/or in the Chat when called upon. The purpose of Synchronous/Live meetings is for the teacher to determine whether students are learning and understanding the material before moving on to the next lesson.

  • Students who are 5 minutes late or later will be marked absent. In order to be marked tardy, they will complete a form at the end of class indicating the reason for their tardiness. Parents/guardians will receive a robocall when a student is absent from class (if they haven't completed the form). Three (3) tardies constitutes one (1) unexcused absence.

  • If you know your student will have an excused absence (for example, doctor’s appointment with a note), please call Ms. Burtch in the attendance office ahead of time: 734.532.1010.
