Greeting RHS Families and Community Partners,

Serving as the Romulus High School principal is a tremendous honor. I respect its traditions and history.  I have had the opportunity to serve as a principal at the elementary, middle, and now high school levels; one thing I am certain of is that it takes a team. Thank you RHS families and community for your support.

Count Day October 6th

Parents and community members Count Day is a very important and significant date.

  • The count days and school funding are mandated through the State School Aid Act. • Count Day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. • Count information is critical to districts because each student translates into state funding. • LEA and ISD state aid are based on the number of students legally enrolled on or before count day. It is important that students are in school every day but October 6th impacts our school funding.

 Early Release Wednesday

Once each month students are released from school at 1:04 pm. This time is built in to support teacher planning, data analysis, and assessment review. This month our early release day is October 13th.

RHS Student Hourly Schedule

RHS Weekly Bell Schedule

Fall Open House

On September 28th we hosted our Fall Open House.  Our numbers were not what we hoped for but our staff presented some very important information. Each department outlined its year-long instructional plan.

  • The end of the first marking period will be November 5th.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on November 11th.

New General Education Social Worker

RHS is thankful to have additional social work support staff. The COVID crisis has added stress and trauma to general education students across the United States of America. Please welcome Ms. Morgan Barr, our new general education social worker. She is a University of Michigan graduate who comes with a lot of experience with supporting students. She is working with our team to identify students. Parents if your child is identified for services you will be notified and you will be provided with a referral-permission slip form. If you are interested in support services please contact Ms. Barr.

NWEA Testing

I want to thank Mr. Novak and Ms. Balcom and the ELA and Math Departments for their work with planning and creating the RHS NWEA testing schedule. This data is tremendously important as we analyze ways to improve student achievement. Please make sure that your scholar is on time and at school to complete this very important assessment.

Chromebook Distribution

Mr. Cooper and the RCS Tech. Department is planning to begin the distribution of Chromebooks to 9th-grade students on Tuesday, October 5th. RHS is committed to one-to-one Chromebook access for every RHS student. If you received a Chromebook last year just bring it in.

RHS Student-Athletes

Please make sure that you are turning in your weekly Progress Reports. Mr. Cook is keeping track and is updating administrators regularly.  Mr. Pate and Mr. Cook are working to ensure academic excellence for all RHS student-athletes.

Spirit Week

I want to thank Mr. Pate, Mrs.Rais, Ms. Poole, Mrs. Garrison, Mrs. Burton, Mr. Buckley, and our Building Ambassadors-Security Team, for RHS Homecoming Week 2021. It was a success. I look forward to more festivities and events for HOCO 2022. RHS students did a phenomenal job at our school dance and football game against Melvindale High School.

COVID Protocols

Mask wearing is essential as we support both our students and staff. Mask wearing or lack thereof significantly changes the procedures for quarantining and contact tracing. Families if your scholar exhibits: fever(>100.4F) cough, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, runny or stuffy nose, loss of taste, or smell, abdominal pain please get them tested and hold them out of school. If any of these symptoms develop, consult with a medical provider immediately and notify the Wayne County Health Department.

Forgotten Harvest

Parents, please remind your students to not park in the back area where Forgotten Harvest food distribution occurs each Tuesday. Thanks for your support.
