Hello Families,

Rail Safety Week 

Together, we can stop track tragedies. The goal of Rail Safety Week (RSW), held in September each year, is to raise awareness of the need for rail safety education and empower the general public to keep themselves safe near highway-rail grade crossings and railroad rights-of-way. Teachers will be providing activities to bring awareness to Rail Safety Week.

Welcome Back Jaguar Families! 

Our Staff members are very excited to welcome your child back to school. I have always loved the back-to-school season! There is something special about the new school year and the opportunity to make new friends and memories. Romulus Elementary is ready to build relationships with families and increase academic growth along with social and emotional wellness. 

Jaguar April 26th Update

We salute you Emmanuel Acho - Former NFL linebacker, Fox Sports 1 Analyst, and author/host of Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man - Born to Nigerian immigrants, Acho was raised in Dallas, TX, and attended St. Mark's School of Texas. He graduated with letters in Football, Basketball, and Track and Field. Acho then went on to play football for the University of Texas, where he graduated with a degree in sports management. The NFL drafted him shortly after college, where he played for multiple teams from 2012-2015.

Black Excellence

We salute you Tanya Fields. In 2009, Fields founded the Black Feminist Project (formerly the BLK Projek), because she saw far too many women unable to rise out of poverty and sustain their families. As the Executive Director, her mission is to help address food justice and economic development by harnessing the local, good food movement and creating small business and career opportunities for underserved women and youth of color.

Madam C.J. Walker, we salute you. Ms. Walker is widely regarded as one of the first-ever self-made American, female millionaires. She created hair-care solutions and remedies with Black women in mind and sold them door to door. Madam C.J. Walker you are an inspiration.

Black Excellence

Amy Sherald is best known for her signature portraits of Black Americans, Sherald made history in 2018 by becoming the first Black woman to create a presidential portrait for the National Portrait Gallery when she was commissioned to paint former First Lady Michelle Obama. We salute you for being a trailblazer.

We salute you,  Matthew Henson 

In 1809, Matthew Henson joined Commander Robert E. Peary's expedition. Their goal was to be the first people to reach the North Pole successfully. Henson demonstrated great courage during his Arctic exploration and in his daily life as an African American.
