Porsche Laster
Term: 2023 to 2026

Porsche Laster is currently serving her first term on the Romulus School Board. She is committed to improving educational opportunities and creating a supportive environment for students, teachers, and families in the community. Porsche has valuable experience as an Achievement and Behavior Specialist at a K-8 school, where she strongly supports student success and well-being and where she passionately advocates for student success and well-being.

In addition to her professional endeavors, She is actively pursuing a degree in Social Work from Grand Canyon University, furthering her commitment to making a positive impact through education and community service. As a lifelong resident of Romulus and a proud alumna of Romulus High School Class of 2005, Porsche deeply values her roots and is invested in the growth and prosperity of her hometown and district.

Porsche is the mother of two children, and she takes great pride in supporting her son as he prepares to graduate from RHS in 2025. Her personal and professional experiences give her a deep understanding of the needs and dreams of students and families in the district, inspiring her commitment to responsible leadership and inclusive decision-making on the school board.

Darcel Davis
Term: 2023 to 2026
Darcel C. Davis was elected to the Board of Education in 2022. Darcel is a student and saxophonist in the Irvin D. Reid Honors College and the College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Arts at Wayne State University studying Instrumental Music Education. Prior to this, Darcel was Valedictorian for Romulus High School’s Class of 2021, drum major for the Romulus High School Marching Band in 2019 & alumni drum major in 2021, DRDFS Next Level Scholars member, and a participant & staff member in the American Guild of Music. During his free time, he volunteers with the Romulus band program, serves as a Trustee for the Romulus Band Boosters and, over the summer, works as a marching band instructor for various high schools throughout Metro Detroit. He is an advocate for arts education and Career & Technical Education. His educational philosophy is that learning is a lifelong process that happens both in and out of classrooms.

Ursula Wester

Ursula Wester is serving her second term on the Board. She has a B.A. from Cornerstone University and Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Ursula works as a secretary at Tyler Elementary School and has worked in education in Romulus for many years. She and her husband have proudly raised their children in Romulus schools.

Paris McCarthy

Paris McCarthy is an educator, wife, mother of 3 school-aged children, coach, optimist gold medalist, and lifelong Romulus resident. As a proud Romulus alumna, McCarthy is dedicated to improving Romulus Community Schools for the longevity of the district and success of our students. McCarthy believes the highest human act is to inspire and is unwavering in her beliefs of servant leadership as well as the value of public education. 
 
McCarthy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Grambling State University, a Masters of Arts in Sports Administration and a K-12 Ed. Leadership Administration certification from Wayne State University. 
 
As an interscholastic professional, McCarthy is proud to say that she understands the importance of instilling positive beliefs, collaboration, empathy, and accountability into a profession on any level to create a culture of community and success. She has worked side by side with educators to service students, families, and communities to lessen achievement gaps in the pursuit of excellence. 
 
McCarthy will take the same approach and philosophy in collaborating with students, staff members, and administration to carry out our institution’s mission to add to its success with a certain sense of pride and excellence. Eagle Nation Forever.

Judy Kennard

Appointed to the Board of Education in November 2018 and is serving out a 4-year term.  A Romulus Graduate that has completed doctorial Ph.D. coursework and has earned an MBA from Capella University, a Masters of Science in Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration degrees from Central Michigan University.  Judy completed and received the MASB Level 1 – Master Board Member Award--2020.  Ms. Kennard currently serves on the board policy subcommittee and previously served as President of the board in 2019.  She is “Committed to ensuring a quality education for all students, an advocate of “Safe and High Performing Schools | Parent Enrichment Initiatives | Pathways to Skill Trade Jobs | Increasing S.T.E.M. Program.”

Debi Pyles is serving her first term on the Board as trustee. She has a B.A. in Business Administration from Wayne State University. She has received the MASB Certified Board Member Award and the Merit Award. Debi also received a certificate as a Michigan ACE Community Champion Presenter. She is married and the proud mother of six.
